Overactivity mornings and/or evenings - Crepuscular
- this is the term for cats overactivity early mornings and in the evenings. According to
Dr. Fox, It is a natural rhythm of behaviour. In the wild your cats would be actively
hunting at these hours. Even the fact that they are raised indoors and that their breed
have endured years of domestication, this has not eliminated this natural behaviour. If
you prize your sleep during "crepuscular" activity, you may want to isolate your
cat where they could be overactive to their hearts' content. Dr. Fox further adds that he
is firmly against tranquilizing cats as one of his readers did.Overactive
Thyroid - According to Dr. Michael Fox, there is no alternative treatment for
overactive thyroid that does not entail taking blood samples at intervals to monitor
effectiveness of the thyroid medication. If your pet is not terrified while blood sample
is being taken then it is a good thing to do. But if your pet is physically and
psychologically too frail from this then it is best to monitor the cat's response in terms
of appetite, weight gain and behavioural change.
Overweight - Go for the garlic! "One of garlic's properties is that
it helps regulate the liver and the gall bladder. that helps the digestive system get back
on track," says Ann-si Li, D.V.M., an expert in Oriental veterinary medicine in
Oakland, California. "So, as bad as it can be for the breath, this pungent herb can
be an effective weight-loss tool", she says. For small pets, she recommends crushing
about one-quarter to one-half of a clove and putting it in their food. Larger pets can eat
anywhere from one to two cloves a day.
